In Sarstedt, Lower Saxony, a mother and her psychotic son are poisoned. He dies, she can be revived. Apparently it was the 53-year-old who wanted to kill herself and the 17-year-old with drugs. Now the public prosecutor is investigating.

A murder trial against a 53-year-old woman who is said to have killed her severely disabled son has begun at the Hildesheim Regional Court. The prosecutor accused the accused of having given the 17-year-old a toxic drug dose in March 2021, a court spokesman said. The mother made a statement on the first day of the hearing and admitted the act she was accused of. The woman’s husband was also questioned as a witness.

According to the court, the woman from Sarstedt is said to have given her son the medication through food in order to kill him. She is said to have eaten a similar dish herself in order to commit suicide. The son died as a result of the poisoning. However, the defendant was revived.

According to the indictment, the act is said to have happened because the mother was overwhelmed with the care of the disabled 17-year-old. At the time of the crime, the mother was mentally under great strain and had reduced criminal responsibility. At the start of the process, she stated that the son had to be looked after permanently because of psychosis, as the spokesman said.

Since the prosecutor’s office did not believe that the son could have expected his mother to be poisoned, the authorities see the murder as a sign of insidiousness. The court initially set trial days until mid-December.
