Princess Madeleine of Sweden and her family have made the decision to return to their home country after several years living in Florida. Recently celebrating her 42nd birthday, Princess Madeleine, along with her husband Christopher O’Neill and their three children – Princess Leonore, Prince Nicolas, and Princess Adrienne, posed for a formal portrait in coordinating blue outfits to mark the occasion.

The Royal House of Sweden announced their plans to move back to Stockholm after living abroad in the United States since 2018. Originally set to relocate in August 2023, the move was postponed to 2024 to allow the family more time to prepare for the transition. Princess Madeleine and Christopher’s love story began in New York City, where they met in 2010. The couple got engaged in 2012 and eventually tied the knot in a royal ceremony in Stockholm.

During their time in the U.S., the family embraced American traditions like Halloween while staying connected to their Swedish heritage. Princess Madeleine and Christopher made a visit to Sweden for King Carl XVI Gustaf’s Golden Jubilee events in 2023 and celebrated Sweden’s National Day in June of the same year.

Their children, Princess Leonore, Prince Nicolas, and Princess Adrienne, do not hold official royal titles after a decision by King Carl XVI Gustaf in 2019. While they remain princes and princesses, their titles are now personal and will not be passed down to future generations. Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar, children of Crown Princess Victoria, are still considered part of the royal house.

Princess Madeleine expressed her support for the change, stating that it allows their children to have more freedom in shaping their own lives as private individuals in the future. The family’s return to Sweden marks a new chapter for Princess Madeleine and her loved ones as they settle back into their home country.
