The Hessian police seized more than 500 items of evidence during a major raid on suspicion of child abuse. The 62 accused are accused, among other things, of producing, possessing and distributing child pornography. An arrest warrant has already been executed.

In the fight against sexual abuse of children and young people, 62 apartments and houses in Hesse were searched last week. The accused are 58 men and four women, said the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) in Wiesbaden. Ten people were questioned and an arrest warrant was executed. The investigators did not initially give details of the suspects.

According to the LKA, the 62 searches involved allegations of the production, possession and distribution of child and youth pornography or the sexual abuse of under-18s. The investigators secured over 500 items such as laptops, smartphones, DVDs and USB sticks. So far it is not known that the accused are in contact with each other or know each other, according to the statement.

According to the State Criminal Police Office, the searches took place in Wiesbaden, Frankfurt, Offenbach, Darmstadt, Hanau and Kassel. The police were also deployed in the districts of Groß-Gerau, Offenbach, Odenwald, Schwalm-Eder, Main-Kinzig, Wetterau, Marburg-Biedenkopf, Lahn-Dill, Gießen, Fulda, Hochtaunus, Main-Taunus, Darmstadt-Dieburg and Bergstrasse .
