RTVE has joined the agreement reached by the EBU and FIFA for the broadcast in Spain of the 2023 Women’s Soccer World Cup, which will be held in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20.

The public corporation will broadcast the 25 main matches of the tournament, one per competition day, including all the matches played by the Spanish team, the opening match, the semifinals and the final.

In addition, it will carry out extensive coverage on television, radio and digital media, with a team of special envoys that will cover the entire competition on the different RTVE platforms, with special monitoring in the news spaces.

FIFA and the EBU have reached an agreement to extend the broadcasting rights of the Women’s Soccer World Cup to the five main European territories. In this way, RTVE, ARD/ZDF (Germany), BBC/ITV (United Kingdom), France Télévisions (France) and RAI (Italy) join the rest of the European public television channels to broadcast this important sporting event.

FIFA and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) have agreed to extend their existing broadcast rights agreement, ensuring that the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 will be broadcast on the EBU’s free-to-air television network in 34 European countries.

The agreement represents a broad commitment to the promotion of women’s football competitions beyond the tournament, with long-term development strategies for women’s sport in Europe.

The first to be held in the southern hemisphere and hosted in the Asia-Pacific region, the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 will feature 32 teams, eight more than the previous edition in 2019, and It will comprise 64 matches, beginning on Thursday, July 20, 2023 with the New Zealand-Norway match, which will be played at Eden Park in Auckland (New Zealand), and concluding with the final at Sydney Gadigal’s Stadium (Australia) on Sunday, July 20. August 2023.

The first matches that Spain will play will be in New Zealand; on July 21 in Wellington, against Costa Rica; on July 26 in Auckland, against Zambia; and on July 31, again in Wellington, against Japan.

RTVE will have the exclusive rights in the territory of Spain for television and radio coverage, open and free, of a total of twenty-five (25) matches: one match per day, including all matches played by the Spanish National Team , which means 15 group stage matches (including the opening match); four round of 16 matches; two quarterfinal matches; the two semifinal matches; the match for third place; and the final match, in addition to the opening and closing ceremonies.

The broadcasts will be carried out on the different RTVE channels and platforms, both linear and on demand, and will allow exhaustive and complete monitoring of everything that happens in the tournament, paying special attention to the participation of the Spanish team.
