The A555 near Cologne is blocked on one side for one and a half hours. The reason for this is a fight between two families in which seven people are slightly injured. A knife was also said to have been used.
On a motorway in Cologne, a dispute between two drivers and their relatives escalated into a fight with seven slightly injured. As the police in the North Rhine-Westphalian city announced, those involved kicked and hit each other on the roadway and hard shoulder of the A555 on Saturday afternoon. Because of the police operation that followed, it was closed for half an hour and at times even completely.
According to witness statements, the starting point of the dispute was a risky traffic situation between a taxi and a private car. Its drivers, aged 32 and 59, are said to have cut and honked at each other. Both vehicles then stopped on the hard shoulder near Cologne-Godorf, where the drivers attacked each other. Relatives, who, according to the police, were driving in the cars, also intervened in the physical dispute.
The son of the 59-year-old, who was driving in a third car behind his vehicle, also took part in the brawl with other companions. According to the investigators, the 59-year-old and an 18-year-old occupant of a car had to be taken to a hospital due to “internal emergencies”. There were a total of seven minor injuries.
During the search of the car and the area, the emergency services also found a knife that, according to witnesses, was said to have been used during the argument. Those involved were escorted off the highway by the police and received reports of dangerous bodily harm, threats and coercion in traffic. The Road Traffic Office was also informed.
