Actor Nazanin Boniadi Not Returning for Season 2 of ‘The Rings of Power’

A series regular from the first season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will not be returning for the highly anticipated second season. Nazanin Boniadi, who portrayed Bronwyn in the Prime Video show’s first season, will not be featured in the upcoming episodes, as confirmed by a close source to the show.

Bronwyn, a human healer and the mother of Theo, had a forbidden romance with the elf warrior Arondir in the first season. Fans noticed Boniadi’s absence from the teaser trailer, which has garnered 13 million views in the past two weeks. The actor recently wrapped filming for an indie film titled A Mosquito in the Ear, marking her feature debut in the film industry.

Boniadi took a step back from acting in September 2022 to focus on activism, particularly the #WomanLifeFreedom movement in Iran. Despite her passion for acting, she mentioned that a special project like A Mosquito in the Ear convinced her to return to the industry.

While Boniadi’s character will not be returning, actors Ismael Cruz Cordova and Tyroe Muhafidin are confirmed to reprise their roles as Arondir and Theo in the new season. Additionally, Rory Kinnear is set to portray the fan-favorite J.R.R. Tolkien character Tom Bombadil in the upcoming season.

The second season of The Rings of Power will delve deeper into Tolkien’s Second Age, focusing on the rising evil presence of Sauron as he seeks ultimate power. The trailer hints at a new look for Sauron and promises a darker storyline that challenges the characters in unforeseen ways.

Prime Video’s most-watched premiere, The Rings of Power, is set to return on August 29, promising fans an epic continuation of the beloved fantasy series.
