Southampton Cruise Ships and Take That Concert to Cause Weekend Traffic Chaos
Southampton is bracing for a hectic weekend on the roads as a perfect storm of events unfolds in the city.
With several cruise ships arriving and departing from the port and the highly anticipated Take That concert at St Mary’s Stadium, thousands of visitors are expected to descend upon the city.
Motorists are being warned to plan ahead and consider the ongoing events and roadworks before venturing into the city center. The roads surrounding the stadium are expected to be particularly congested as fans make their way to the venue.
In addition to the cruise ships and concert, a Southampton Peace Protest for Palestine is scheduled to take place in Guildhall Square on Sunday. This peaceful march will impact traffic flow as it moves from Guildhall Square to Bargate and back.
To accommodate the various events, several roads will be closed, including Blechynden Terrace and West Park Road during the parade on Sunday afternoon. The temporary anti-clockwise one-way system on the Ring Road from Charlotte Place to the Civic Centre will also remain in place.
Southampton City Council advises residents and visitors to stay informed about the road closures and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid unnecessary delays.
