Tom Morello Named Recipient of 2024 Woody Guthrie Prize

Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello has been selected as the recipient of the prestigious 2024 Woody Guthrie Prize. The announcement was made as Morello celebrates his 60th birthday on May 30th.

The ceremony honoring Morello will take place on September 25th at the iconic Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The event will feature a Q&A session with Morello, along with an acoustic performance. Tickets and VIP packages for the ceremony will go on sale starting June 3rd at 10 a.m. CT through the Woody Guthrie Center website.

The award recognizes Morello’s remarkable contributions to music and activism, reflecting the spirit of Woody Guthrie’s social consciousness and musical legacy. Before the award ceremony, Morello is set to embark on a series of solo concerts and festival performances in the UK, Europe, and the United States. Fans can catch Morello live at various venues throughout June and July, including appearances at the Louder Than Life and Aftershock festivals later this year.
