The University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2024 was officially inducted on Friday night at the Central Bank Center. The six new Hall of Famers, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn (track and field), John Cropp (administrator/coach), Henrik Larsen (rifle), Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (track and field), Jodie Meeks (men’s basketball), and Corey Peters (football), were honored for their outstanding achievements.
The new Hall of Famers will be introduced on Saturday during halftime of the Ohio football game. The UK Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 2005 to recognize and celebrate individuals whose participation and accomplishments have contributed to the University’s athletics program. A committee made up of Hall of Famers, media members, campus representatives, and current coaches and administrators selects new inductees each year.
Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, a standout in Women’s Track and Field from 2016-2018, is a two-time Olympic medalist in the 100-meter hurdles. She made history as the first athlete from Puerto Rico to win two Olympic medals. Camacho-Quinn also achieved success at the NCAA level, winning three championships and setting school records.
John Cropp, who served in various roles in UK athletics from 1992-2013, was honored for his dedication to student-athletes. He played a key role in the development of UK softball and had a long and successful career in coaching and administration.
Henrik Larsen, a Rifle champion in 2018, made a significant impact during his collegiate career, winning both team and individual national championships. He set school records and was named NCAA Shooter of the Year and NCAA Freshman of the Year.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, a standout in Women’s Track and Field in 2018, is a four-time Olympic gold medalist known for her world-record performances. She set collegiate and world junior records during her time at Kentucky and continues to excel on the world stage.
Jodie Meeks, a Men’s Basketball star from 2007-2009, was recognized as a NCAA consensus second-team All-American. He holds several school records and had a successful career in the NBA.
Corey Peters, a standout in Football from 2006-2009, was a key player in UK’s success during his time at the university. He went on to have a successful 13-year career in the NFL and is now working as a college football scout for Jacksonville.
The induction of these six outstanding individuals into the UK Athletics Hall of Fame is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and excellence in their respective sports. They will forever be remembered and celebrated for their contributions to the University of Kentucky athletics program.
