A disturbing incident unfolded in Carlisle on Monday morning, leaving a man stabbed and a woman and girl seriously injured. Emergency services responded to the scene on Whernside after receiving reports of the violent attack shortly after 08:00 BST.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered a woman in her 50s and a young girl with severe injuries. All three victims are currently receiving medical treatment in the hospital. Cumbria Police have taken a man and a woman into custody on suspicion of attempted murder.
The woman and girl were rushed to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, where they are said to be in stable condition. The injured man, also in his 50s, was taken to Cumberland Infirmary with a stab wound.
It was revealed that both the 55-year-old man and the 53-year-old woman who were arrested had sustained injuries themselves. The Great North Air Ambulance Service dispatched their critical care team following reports of the assault.
The North West Ambulance Service responded to the scene at 08:08 BST, deploying three ambulances and a helicopter to aid the victims. Cumbria Police have assured the public that there is no broader threat to safety in the area, but have urged people to steer clear of the vicinity.
