David Soul, the actor who played Hutch in the series "Starsky and Hutch", dies at the age of 80

American-British actor David Soul, who played Hutch in the American series Starsky and Hutch, died Thursday at the age of 80, his wife announced on Friday January 5.

“David Soul – beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother – passed away after a valiant battle for life in the loving company of his family,” Helen Snell wrote in a statement carried by several media outlets.

The series, which aired on television in the late 1970s and became cult, featured two police officers in the fictional town of Bay City. David Soul played Kenneth “Hutch” Hutchinson, alongside Paul Michael Glaser, who played David Starsky.
