A “hanged body” was discovered Thursday, October 13, in an uninhabited farm in Corcelles-en-Beaujolais (Rhône), with a bag containing identity documents of actor Marwan Berreni, who had been missing for two months, announced Friday the prosecutor of Villefranche-sur-Saône. “An autopsy has been ordered. DNA samples must be taken (…) to allow the identification of the body”, and the results will be transmitted within three to fifteen days, said Laetitia Francart in a press release.

The body was discovered by the owners of this farm, who came to do work in this building located about twenty kilometers from the actor’s home, described Ms. Francart. Among the papers discovered in the bag were “the identity card, a bank card and the driving license of Marwan Berreni, declared missing on August 3, 2023.”

“Worrying disappearance”

A preliminary investigation for “disturbing disappearance” was opened, the actor, known for his role as Abdel Fedala in the series Plus belle la vie, having not appeared since the beginning of August and a road accident in which he could to be involved. On the evening of August 3, a 37-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle in Mâcon (Saône-et-Loire) near a nightclub. Suffering from multiple fractures, she was given total incapacity for work for 28 days. The driver of the vehicle fled.

Two days later, a 4 x 4 type car “likely to correspond to the vehicle involved in the accident” was discovered in the town of Fleurie, around fifteen kilometers further south, according to the Mâcon public prosecutor’s office. According to sources close to the case, the car belonged to Marwan Berreni, based not far from there, in Fuissé.

On August 11, a judicial investigation against Since then, investigators have tried in vain to get their hands on the actor.

The actor’s parents, who already lost their youngest son ten years ago, launched an appeal to their son in a letter published in early October in Libération. “You have the right to cry, but go back on your way, believe in yourself, believe in your dreams, even the ones you don’t say (…) Come back! We need you ! “, they wrote. The victim of the accident, named Sandra, also appealed to Marwan Berreni on social networks from her hospital room, ten days after the accident.

The filming of Plus belle la vie had already planned to begin without Marwan Berreni. They will resume at the end of October, marking the return of the longest soap opera ever produced in France, less than a year after the broadcast of the last episode on France 3.
