An investigation into domestic violence was opened against the flagship host of M6, Stéphane Plaza, after the accusations of two women, the Paris prosecutor’s office announced on Tuesday October 10, confirming information from Mediapart.

“Two letters from women were received at the Paris public prosecutor’s office alleging violence committed” by Stéphane Plaza “during [their] relationship,” said the public prosecutor’s office. Three of his former companions told Mediapart in September that they had suffered “humiliation, threats, verbal and, for two of them, physical violence”, accusations that the host disputes.

“Manipulation, pressure and mistreatment”

According to one of the women interviewed, Stéphane Plaza “exercises manipulation, pressure and mistreatment” in order to “make several serious relationships coexist at the same time”. This same source also claims to have had three fingers broken by the host during an argument, “a fracture of the ring finger with bone tearing, and two dislocations at the joints of the middle and index fingers”, specifies Mediapart.

Another companion, a single mother and former participant in one of his shows, announced that she had filed a lawsuit in September 2022 after having suffered violence, denigration and death threats from the host, who refused to give him back the keys to his home.

A third explains having ended their relationship after five months after being threatened by the alcoholic host during a romantic weekend in Vienna, Austria, when she had just discovered he was cheating on her .

First a real estate agent, Stéphane Plaza became a star of the small screen when M6 propelled him in 2006 to the head of the show “Research apartment or house”, then “Maison à vente” (2007) and “ Apartment Hunters” (2015). Designated for several years as the French’s favorite presenter, Stéphane Plaza brings together several million viewers with his various programs. The M6 group also became the majority shareholder in January 2022 of the Stéphane Plaza real estate agency network, which has some 660 franchises across France.
