Antonella Lualdi died in the Rome region where she was hospitalized, aged 92, according to the Italian press. The actress, known for her role in the series Les Cordier, judge and cop broadcast on TF1 from 1992 to 2005 – she played the role of Lucia, the commissioner’s wife – had a brilliant career above all in Italy, in the 1950s.

The actress was born in Lebanon to an Italian father and a Greek mother. She grew up in Beirut and learned, during her childhood, Arabic, Italian, French, then became passionate about the theater. And it was in Italy that she launched her career in the 1940s and quickly became a star in her father’s country of origin.

She will move to the other side of the Alps from 1959, when she will play, among others, for Claude Chabrol in À double tour (1959).

From the 1970s, she experienced a great period of hollow, despite some roles, notably in the film by Claude Sautet, Vincent, François, Paul… and the others, alongside Yves Montand and Gérard Depardieu, released in 1974. She then finds the screens, but the small skylight this time, with the series Les Cordier, judge and cop.

His funeral will take place this Saturday in Rome.
