The management of US actor and director Tony Dow (77) accidentally confirmed his death. “Entertainment Tonight” and the celebrity portal “TMZ” had previously announced his death, citing a statement from Dow’s spokesman. A corresponding statement on the actor’s Facebook page was also removed.

An update on the actor’s official Facebook profile said that Dow’s wife, Lauren Shulkind, was “very distracted” and assumed her husband had passed away and told the management team. However, the actor’s daughter-in-law later contacted management and said that although he was not well, he was still alive.

Dow’s son Christopher said on the official Facebook profile just before midnight German time: “This is a difficult time. Dad is at home, in hospice care and in his last hours. My wife and I are with him, along with many friends who came to see him.” Dow is a fighter.

Meanwhile, Dow’s wife confirmed to CBS Sunday Morning that her husband was still alive. In the summer of 2021, according to US media reports, the actor was hospitalized with pneumonia. His wife only announced on Facebook in May that he was fighting cancer again.
