Canadian Trio from WFC2 Called Up for Concacaf U-20 Championship
Canada Soccer has recently announced that three talented players from Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) have been selected to join Canada’s U-20 squad for the upcoming Concacaf U-20 Championship. Defender Immanuel Mathe, midfielder Jeevan Badwal, and forward Myles Morgan will be representing their country during a June camp in La Calera, Chile in preparation for the tournament.
The 2024 Concacaf U-20 Championship is scheduled to take place from July 19 to August 4 in Mexico. Canada has been placed in Group B alongside Honduras, Dominican Republic, and El Salvador. The top two teams from each group, as well as the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarterfinals.
In their group stage matches, Canada will kick off their campaign against Honduras on July 20, followed by games against Dominican Republic on July 23 and El Salvador on July 26. The matches will be held at Estadio Sergio León Chávez in Irapuato, Mexico.
The tournament will serve as a qualifying event for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, with the top four teams from the Concacaf U-20 Championship securing their spots in the prestigious tournament. The knockout stage of the championship will begin on July 30, with the semi-finals scheduled for August 2 and the final set to take place on August 4.
