Louise Redknapp Reconnects with Former Father-in-Law Harry Redknapp
Louise Redknapp, the former wife of footballer Jamie Redknapp, recently reunited with her ex-father-in-law, Harry Redknapp, at a charity event in London. The pair were all smiles as they posed together, appearing friendly and cordial despite Louise’s divorce from Jamie in 2017.
The charity event took place at the BGC Group charity day in Canary Wharf, an annual gathering to honor the lives lost in the 9/11 terror attacks. In attendance were not only Louise and Harry Redknapp but also well-known personalities such as Holly Willoughby, Davina McCall, and Ashley Roberts.
Louise opted for a casual outfit, wearing a striped cardigan over a white vest top and light wash blue jeans, while her former father-in-law looked dapper in a navy blue suit. The event provided an opportunity for them to catch up and show their support for a meaningful cause.
Harry Redknapp opened up to The Times in an interview about the challenges his family faced following Jamie and Louise’s divorce. He shared, “It was difficult when Jamie and Louise got divorced because both sets of our parents were married until they died, so we weren’t used to that. We tried to never interfere, though, and have all managed to stay friends. Everyone seems happy now.”
Louise and Jamie were married for 20 years, having tied the knot in Bermuda in 1998. Their relationship mirrored that of other famous couples like the Beckhams, with Louise being a successful pop star and Jamie a Premier League footballer. Despite initial struggles with fertility due to Louise’s endometriosis, the couple welcomed two sons together, Charley in 2004 and Beau in 2009.
In 2016, Louise took a bold step by joining the cast of Strictly Come Dancing, partnered with professional dancer Kevin Clifton. Their impressive performances led them to the final, where Louise received overwhelming support from women who saw her as a role model for moms in their 40s. However, the experience also marked a turning point in her personal life.
Reflecting on her time on Strictly, Louise confessed in her book, You’ve Got This, that participating in the show had a significant impact on her marriage. She admitted, “If I’d done the show four years earlier, this wouldn’t have happened. I wouldn’t have walked away from my marriage.” Despite regrets about how her marriage ended, Louise acknowledged the growth and self-discovery she experienced during her time on the show.
A few months after the conclusion of Strictly, Louise and Jamie announced their divorce, ending their long-standing marriage. Louise revealed to HELLO! Magazine that she had felt increasingly disconnected and lonely in her relationship, leading to a sense of stagnation in her life compared to the fast-paced lives of those around her.
Despite the challenges they faced, Louise expressed her enduring love and respect for Jamie, emphasizing his role as a devoted father to their sons. Jamie has since remarried model Frida Redknapp, with whom he shares a two-year-old son named Raphael. Louise, on the other hand, has found happiness with her CEO boyfriend and former army officer, Drew Michael.
