Malaysia Debt Ventures Bhd (MDV), a subsidiary of the Minister of Finance (Incorporated) and an agency under the purview of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, has announced the appointment of Rizal Fauzi as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective August 1, 2024. Rizal takes over from Nizam Mohamed Nadzri, who completed his term as CEO in February 2024 after holding the position since 2018.

Rizal Fauzi brings a wealth of experience to his new role, with over 27 years of corporate experience under his belt. During his career, he has held various key roles and played a pivotal role in driving critical business functions. Notably, Rizal has dedicated 22 years of his career to MDV, where he has been instrumental in shaping the company’s direction.

Throughout his tenure at MDV, Rizal has held senior positions in the business division, overseeing business and project monitoring during a period of rapid expansion for the company. This experience has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end business and operational management. Rizal was later appointed to lead the risk management division as Senior Vice President before being promoted to Executive Vice President. In his most recent role, he served as MDV’s Chief Risk, Integrity, and Governance Officer from 2018 until early 2024.

Rizal’s appointment as CEO comes after he served as Acting CEO following Nizam’s departure, demonstrating his capability to lead the organization effectively. His proven track record within MDV and his extensive experience make him well-suited to take on the responsibilities of CEO and drive the company towards further growth and success.

Under Rizal’s leadership, MDV aims to continue its mission of supporting the development of innovative technology-driven businesses in Malaysia. With his deep understanding of the company’s operations and strategic direction, Rizal is poised to lead MDV to new heights and further solidify its position as a key player in the country’s technology and innovation ecosystem.

As MDV enters this new chapter with Rizal at the helm, stakeholders can look forward to continued growth, innovation, and impactful support for Malaysia’s technology sector. Rizal’s appointment signals a commitment to building on the foundation laid by his predecessors and steering MDV towards a future of sustained success and excellence in driving technological advancement in the country.
