The leader of the LFI deputies Mathilde Panot hammered Tuesday that there would be “no return to normal” in the National Assembly and in the country, as long as the pension reform is maintained.

“We are not going to turn the page,” assured the president of the Insoumis group to the press, when parliamentary work resumed. “It is out of the question to have a National Assembly completely disconnected from the country and where nothing would happen”.

A seminar of the intergroup of the left-wing coalition Nupes is scheduled for Wednesday noon to discuss “how to continue to fight in the (National) Assembly” pension reform, said Mathilde Panot, promising “parliamentary initiatives” .

The MP for Val-de-Marne recalled the June 8 deadline at the Palais-Bourbon, with on the menu that day a bill to try to repeal the reform, initiated by the independent group Liot (Liberties, Independents , Overseas, Territories) and supported by the left.

“This may be the only opportunity offered to Parliament to vote (against) the age measure”, noted the communist Sébastien Jumel, considering that “the communication measures (of the executive) on the 100 days do not not eclipse the thickness of anger”.

“The executive does not print and will not print until there is a strong sign on the withdrawal” of the reform, he continued, his colleague Pierre Dharréville promising a spirit of “combat against to the governmental and presidential will to always accelerate in the same direction”.

“We continue to fight the battle, starting tomorrow (Tuesday)”, promised the socialist Arthur Delaporte, in reference to the expected decision of the Constitutional Council on a second socialist initiative procedure to try to organize a referendum on pensions.

The Calvados deputy also promised “total mobilization” on June 8 for the parliamentary niche of the Liot group.

Until then, “we will use everything we can,” warned Ms. Panot. The filing of a motion of censure against the government is “still on the agenda”, she said, without saying more.

In his eyes, Emmanuel Macron is the “president of ridicule”, “the laughing stock of the democratic world abroad”. “You can’t muzzle a people indefinitely,” she said.

The “historic mobilization of May 1 is a show of force and a warning to Emmanuel Macron. We will not stop”, insisted the leader of the LFI deputies.

The president of the Liot group, Bertrand Pancher, also called on “the government and the relative majority” to hear “the signal” sent by the demonstrators on May 1.

“There will be no return to normal until he gives in on this text. And I’m not even sure there will be a return to normal afterwards, with a democratic crisis that will continue,” said Mathilde Panot.
