Professor Henri Joyeux is again banned from practicing medicine for two years following false declarations against certain vaccines, several years after the cancellation of a first radiation, according to a document sent Monday by the College of Physicians.

“Pr Joyeux is inflicted with the sanction of the ban on practicing medicine for a period of two years”, starting in 2024, according to a decision of the national disciplinary chamber of the Order of Physicians, first revealed by medical news site Egora. This radiation is the last stage of a soap opera which has for years pitted this professional body against Henri Joyeux – known for multiplying unfounded positions on the medical level.

At the center of the case, two petitions published on the internet in September 2014 and May 2015 by the former member of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE). The first was against a recommendation from the High Council for Public Health, never followed by the government, recommending lowering the age of vaccination against the papillomavirus for girls from 11 to 9 years old.

The second criticized the replacement of the trivalent DTPolio vaccine (i.e. protecting against three diseases, diphtheria, tetanus and polio) by a hexavalent vaccine (protecting against six conditions), due to risks supposedly linked to presence of aluminum in the latter.

Clandestine clinical trials

Following these statements, the National Council had, in 2016, already disbarred Mr. Joyeux for two years, but this decision was overturned by the disciplinary chamber, which operates independently of the council. The case was escalated to the Council of State which overturned the decision of the disciplinary chamber in 2019, opening the way to a new procedure. It was at the end of this that the chamber, this time, did write off Henri Joyeux.

He expressed himself “in an alarmist manner, without relying on data acquired from science”, according to the chamber, which also accuses him of “alarming parents of young children by the use of polemical formulas” .

The former oncologist, who also disseminated erroneous information around the Covid, is also the subject of procedures in other files, in particular clandestine clinical trials around Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. The drug agency (ANSM) banned these trials, but the administrative justice overturned this decision, leading the ANSM to appeal to the Council of State. The latter’s decision is still awaited.
