The Bridgnorth 10k race is celebrating its tenth anniversary next month with an exciting new addition to the event. Runners will now have the opportunity to test themselves in timed sections during the race, adding an extra challenge to the 6.22-mile course.

For the first time, runners will be clocked over the Cartway and Railway Street climbs to see who can claim the titles of ‘Cartway Conqueror’ and ‘Railway Street Rocket’. Winners of these timed segments will receive prizes, along with the first locals with WV15 and WV16 postcodes.

Race director Vicky Morris expressed her excitement about these new features, emphasizing the goal of continuously improving the race experience for participants. The course has been officially measured for the first time, and the timed sections are expected to add a fun element and extra motivation for runners tackling the hills.

With over 100 spots still available for the event, Vicky encourages those interested in participating to sign up as soon as possible. The race can accommodate up to 500 runners, its largest field yet, and all profits will go to a local charity. The community support for the event is strong, and both runners and spectators are expected to enjoy the special atmosphere created by the race and the people of Bridgnorth.

In addition to the timed segment prizes, there will also be awards for the first, second, and third place male and female finishers overall, as well as age category prizes for winners in the over-40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s categories. Every participant will receive a technical T-shirt, a medal, and a water bottle upon finishing the race.

Entry to the Bridgnorth 10k costs £23 for affiliated club runners and £25 for unaffiliated runners. Those interested in joining can sign up on the event website before entries close at midnight on October 17, 2024. The race organizers are also seeking sponsorship from local businesses, with various options available. To support the event through sponsorship, individuals can reach out via email at enquiries@bridgnorthrunningclub.co.uk.

The Bridgnorth 10k promises to be an exciting and challenging event, with the new timed sections adding a fresh element to the race experience. Participants can look forward to testing their skills on the iconic course while supporting a local charity and enjoying the vibrant community spirit of Bridgnorth.
