Perhaps it is the media presence in times of crisis that makes Minister of Economics Habeck the new leader in the Forsa politician ranking. He is clearly ahead of Chancellor Scholz and FDP leader Lindner. The CDU chairman Merz meanwhile has to admit defeat to three other Union politicians.

Economics Minister Robert Habeck is currently the most popular politician in Germany. Not only would the Greens politician receive more votes in a direct election for the Chancellor than incumbent Olaf Scholz from the SPD or CDU leader Friedrich Merz. He also takes first place in the current ranking of politicians by the opinion research institute Forsa.

The ranking regularly determines which 20 politicians the citizens believe the country is in good hands with. The respondents can rate their rating from 0 (“is not in good hands at all”) to 100 (“is completely in good hands”). Comparisons in the current ranking refer to the previous survey, which took place at the end of May.

Habeck reaches 55 trust points and takes first place despite losing one point. Just one point behind is the Minister President of Schleswig-Holstein, Daniel Günther, who last time held the top spot ahead of Habeck. The CDU politician clearly won the state elections in May and then gained 13 points – now he is giving up four points again.

As in May, another Green politician follows in third place: Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock achieved 50 points – a loss of three points. NRW Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst defended his fourth place with 48 points. He loses two points – in May the CDU politician, like Günther, benefited from the successful state election.

The order of the following places does not change either, but the number of points does: Chancellor Olaf Scholz is in fifth place, the SPD politician loses 2 points and is now at 47. Cem Özdemir of the Greens, Federal Minister of Food, follows behind and agriculture, with 45 points (minus 1) and Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach from the SPD with 44 (minus 1).

Four party leaders follow: Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder is in eighth place – the CSU leader also loses one point to 41 points. SPD chairman Lars Klingbeil gives up two points, he is now at 40. FDP leader Christian Lindner has 37 points, he gives up again, this time three points. CDU leader Friedrich Merz loses just as many points – he comes to 34 points. The Union faction leader is in the ranking behind the three Union Prime Ministers Günther, Wüst and Söder.

While most politicians lose points, SPD General Secretary Kevin Kühnert can gain: With two additional points in his account, he now has 34 and can draw level with Merz. He also overtakes the two FDP politicians Wolfgang Kubicki and Marco Buschmann, both of whom have 32 points, with Kubicki having to give up one point.

Kühnert’s boss Saskia Esken, chairwoman of the SPD, can also increase – one point to 27. Left parliamentary group leader Dietmar Bartsch (27 points) and Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht from the SPD (25 points) can each gain two points. Far behind in the last places of the survey are the left leader Janine Wissler with 19 points (plus 1) and the AfD chairmen Tino Chrupalla (10) and Alice Weidel (9).

It is also interesting to what extent supporters of the respective parties rate their politicians. The two ministers Habeck and Baerbock achieve the highest values ??here: the Green voters give them 85 and 82 points, respectively, unchanged compared to May. Chancellor Scholz again achieved exactly 80 points with the SPD supporters.

Prime Minister Söder has 78 points (minus 3) among the supporters of the CDU and CSU, who is ahead of his counterparts Wüst (69, unchanged) and Günther (67, minus 4) and CDU leader Merz (59, minus 3) leads. The chief liberal Lindner gains three points to 73, Minister Özdemir reaches 70 points (minus 1). At the bottom of the list are Esken (42, down 1) and Lambrecht (36, up 2) for the SPD and Wissler (45, up 2) for the left.
