Heat wave: four departments placed in orange vigilance, Sunday

The strong heat arrives in the South-East. Forecasters have placed four departments on heatwave orange vigilance for Sunday: Alpes-Maritimes, Isère, Ain and Rhône due to a “non-exceptional heatwave episode for the season, but whose persistence requires particular vigilance, in particular for sensitive or exposed persons”. Météo-France has also placed 23 other departments on yellow alert, from Bas-Rhin to Corsica.

Temperatures have already risen this Saturday in the regions concerned by the vigilance. The mercury rose to 22°C this morning in the Lyon region and up to 27°C in Toulon, notes Météo-France.

On Sunday, the temperature will continue to climb a little more and peaks of 35°C and 36°C should be recorded as far as Burgundy and Alsace. The day promises to be just as hot, especially on the Mediterranean contour and the Rhone Valley. Temperatures of up to 40°C are forecast in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. “The end of this episode is of course still uncertain, but the risk seems to be lasting in the south-east of the country”, concludes Météo-France in its bulletin.
