Tour de France: Mark Cavendish retires

Mark Cavendish will not break the record for Tour de France stage wins he holds with Eddy Merckx. The Briton retired on Saturday after a crash, organizers said.

The Isle of Man sprinter, 38, who was competing in the Grande Boucle for the last time, fell in the middle of the peloton about sixty kilometers from the finish. Holding his right shoulder, the Astana runner climbed into the ambulance with tears in his eyes.
