The snowfall, which continued during the night from Wednesday January 17 to Thursday January 18, will gradually end on Thursday morning in the north of France, and shift towards the east and the center, according to Météo-France. Twenty-five departments are affected by the orange “snow-ice” vigilance on Thursday. Orange vigilance is extended until 10 a.m. in the Nord, Pas-de-Calais and Somme; will apply from 4 p.m. in Cantal, Loire, Haute-Loire and Puy-de-Dôme, and from 6 p.m. in Isère.
The snowfall will end in the morning, from Hauts-de-France to Normandy, via the Paris region. However, their consequences could continue during the day with an early refreezing of the roads in the evening, warns the meteorological station.
Since the start of snowfall, we have recorded 2 to 5 centimeters in Normandy, with local peaks of 10 centimeters; 5 to 10 centimeters in the north of the country, with local peaks of 15 centimeters, and 1 to 4 centimeters in the Paris region.
In the morning, snowfall will shift towards the Center, Burgundy and the Grand-Est. Then, in the afternoon, towards Limousin, Auvergne and Franche-Comté, with a possible fleeting passage to Poitou and Lyonnais. In the Alps, the limit between rain and snow is between 1,500 and 1,700 meters.

In the South-West, the sky remains very cloudy, with some rain on the plains and snow on the Pyrenees from 600 meters in the evening. The wind increases in these regions, reaching 70 to 80 kilometers per hour locally, and up to 100 kilometers per hour where the tramontana blows. In western Corsica, the weather is rainy and the libeccio blows at 90 to 110 kilometers per hour in Balagne.
Minimum temperatures are close to − 1 to − 3 degrees north of the Seine, around 0 to 2 degrees over the rest of the northern half. They are often between 4 and 8 degrees south. Maximum values generally do not exceed 1 to 4 degrees north of the Seine, 4 to 10 degrees north of the Loire, and range from 13 to 17 degrees to the south.
