The end of the late heat wave that has hit France for several days began this Thursday evening, as announced by Météo-France. The disappearance of the heat dome that hovered over the territory allowed the meeting between the warm air released by the dome and that, colder, located at altitude. The result of this encounter generated particularly intense and violent thunderstorms. Much more than usual.

This arrival of precipitation also marks the gradual cooling of the territory, after a multitude of heat records. The bad weather first swept through the northwest of the territory. The opportunity for many to immortalize the storm and publish the pictures on social networks.

Demonstration of such extreme weather: the formation of arcus. These rather rare clouds are proof of particularly violent and intense storm phenomena. They take the form of a scroll and can be up to tens of kilometers long. They usually form after a strong contrast between the temperature of the ground and that of the air and are harbingers of violent weather, based on torrential rains, hail and thunderstorms.

A massive arc first formed along the Normandy coast near Trouville, before rolling over the region. The city of Le Havre was also affected by one of these clouds.
