PHOENIX — Justin Barcia won an AMA Supercross race at Chase Field on Saturday night for his first career victory.
Barcia, a rookie from Ochlocknee, Ga., became the 56th different winner in the history of the 450SX class. Two-time 450SX class champion Ryan Villopoto of Poulsbo, Wash., was second, and Davi Millsaps of Murrieta, Calif., grabbed third. Millsaps won last week’s season opener at Angels Stadium.
Villopoto spun out on the first lap and dropped from fourth to eighth place.
Honda rider Eli Tomac, of Cortez, Colo., won his second consecutive Western Regional 250SX Class Main Event. Tomac had a 10.193 second margin of victory in his ninth 250SX Class race win.
Next week’s Supercross is back at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, Calif.
