Midfielder Callum O’Hare has bid farewell to Coventry City as his contract expired at the Championship club. O’Hare, 26, had a successful spell with the Sky Blues, making 182 appearances after initially joining on loan in August 2019. Throughout his time at the club, he found the back of the net 22 times and was a key player in Coventry’s journey to the FA Cup semi-finals last season, where they narrowly lost to Manchester United on penalties.
Despite his contributions, O’Hare’s time with Coventry was marred by injuries in his final two seasons with the club. In a statement, Coventry City expressed their gratitude to O’Hare for his dedication and efforts on the field.
In other news, former Coventry midfielder George Boateng is making a return to the club, this time as part of manager Mark Robins’ coaching staff. Boateng, who previously played for the Sky Blues from 1997 to 1999, scoring seven goals in 57 appearances before moving to Aston Villa, will take on the role of a first-team coach alongside Rhys Carr.
Robins welcomed Boateng and Carr to the coaching staff, highlighting their skills and experience that will undoubtedly benefit the team’s performance and preparation both in training and on matchdays. Carr, who joins Coventry from Wolverhampton Wanderers, brings with him a wealth of knowledge from his time as an individual development coach and working with the Republic of Ireland Women’s team.
Unfortunately, with Boateng and Carr’s arrival, assistant boss Adi Viveash will be departing the CBS Arena after serving as Robins’ right-hand man for the past seven years. Coventry City acknowledged Viveash’s significant contributions to the club’s success, including their promotion from League Two to the Championship.
Looking ahead, Coventry City is eager to build on their ninth-place finish in the Championship last season, following their heartbreak in the play-off final in 2022-23. With a reshaped coaching staff and a squad hungry for success, the Sky Blues are gearing up for another exciting season as they aim to climb up the ranks in the highly competitive league.
