West Ham United has announced that Ben Johnson and Divin Mubama will be leaving the club as their contracts come to an end on June 30, 2024. Johnson, who has been with the club for 17 years, joined as a young schoolboy and progressed through the ranks to become a professional player in 2018. Throughout his time with West Ham, Johnson has made 109 appearances and scored two goals. He played a key role in the team’s success in the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League. Additionally, he was part of the England squad that won the UEFA European U21 Championship.
On the other hand, Mubama, a 19-year-old forward, made 18 appearances for the first team and scored his first senior goal in a round of 16 match in the UEFA Europa Conference League. He also had success with the Academy, winning the FA Youth Cup and U18 Premier League South double in the 2022/23 season. Mubama was named the Mark Noble Young Hammer of the Year and represented England at various youth levels.
West Ham United expressed their gratitude to both players for their dedication and hard work during their time at the club. They wished them the best in their future endeavors as they move on from the team. The departure of Johnson and Mubama marks the end of an era for the club, but also opens up opportunities for new talent to emerge and make their mark on the team’s future success. The club will be looking to build on the foundation laid by these departing players and continue to strive for excellence in the seasons to come.
