Nine North Wales Road Runners participated in the challenging Marathon Eryri, a race that marked its 40th anniversary this year. The marathon, which took place in Llanberis, is known for its difficult terrain that includes mountain trails, farm tracks, and roads, offering runners some of the most stunning views in the UK.

The Marathon Eryri has been voted the Best British Marathon twice, thanks to its demanding course that circles around Yr Wyddfa, the highest peak in Wales. This race has become an iconic event in the running calendar, attracting athletes looking for a tough challenge amidst breathtaking scenery.

Among the North Wales Road Runners, Steve Bozier showed a strong performance, leading the team with a finishing time of 3 hours, 54 minutes, and 31 seconds. Cheryl Frost followed closely with a time of 4 hours, 28 minutes, and 42 seconds, showcasing her determination throughout the race. Adam Lemalle completed his first-ever marathon in an impressive 4 hours, 31 minutes, and 13 seconds.

Steve Roberts, who recently turned 60, crossed the finish line in 4 hours and 38 minutes, expressing satisfaction with his performance. Club chairman Kevin Slattery also had a solid run, finishing in 4 hours, 53 minutes, and 50 seconds. Gwen Charlton achieved a new personal best in the marathon, completing the race in 5 hours, 19 minutes, and 47 seconds. Rachel Morris displayed grit and determination, finishing in 6 hours, 59 minutes, and 51 seconds.

The race organizers, volunteers, and marshals were commended for their efforts in making the event a success. Special recognition was given to NWRRC couple Ben and Sarah Ferguson, who served as race sweepers, ensuring the safety of all participants. The Fergusons completed the marathon in 7 hours and 14 minutes, fulfilling their roles admirably.
