League of Legends fans were thrilled to learn that Ambessa Medarda, also known as Mel’s Mom from Arcane, is set to be the next champion in the popular game. Ambessa, a Noxian general, made her first appearance in Arcane’s first season on Netflix, where she showcased her brutal and cunning nature as she prepared for an impending war between two cities.

Riot Games announced that Ambessa will be a dominating presence on the battlefield, utilizing her Twin Drakehound chain weapons to eliminate priority targets. The game designer, Max Perlman, shared that Ambessa was designed with three key approaches in mind – a lightweight fighter with a high skill ceiling, a brawler who can manipulate enemies from a distance, and a military veteran who leads her team into battle. By blending elements from all three designs, Ambessa is expected to excel in the top lane, with the flexibility to play in the jungle or mid lane as well.

Ambessa’s kit includes unique abilities such as Drakehound’s Step, which allows her to dash after casting an ability and grants her bonus range, damage, and attack speed. Her other abilities, Cunning Sweep/Sundering Slam, Repudiation, Lacerate, and Public Execution, provide her with a variety of offensive and defensive options to outmaneuver her opponents on the battlefield.

Fans can look forward to seeing more of Ambessa in Arcane’s upcoming second season, set to debut in November. Additionally, League of Legends will introduce an Arcane-themed skin for the All Mid All Random game mode, along with new features like buffs for destroyed inhibitors and nemesis quests between Arcane characters.

Ambessa is scheduled to make her debut in the 14.22 patch for League of Legends, coinciding with the ARAM overhaul that will be active until January 2025. Players can anticipate an exciting gameplay experience with the addition of this formidable new champion to the game.
