MotoGP is facing a race against time to meet strict deadlines for the upcoming Indonesia event. With the cancellation of the Kazakhstan GP and the India GP, Misano has been selected to host two consecutive rounds on September 20 to 22. While this decision may have been cost-effective, it has also presented logistical challenges for the organizers.

Both India and Kazakhstan were geographically closer to Indonesia, where the next GP is scheduled to take place. This means that meticulous planning is required to transport all the equipment and gear from Misano to Mandalika seamlessly.

Dorna’s Director of Operations, Carles Jorba, is spearheading this massive task. With his wealth of experience in handling such moves and a well-trained team by his side, the operation is in good hands. The process will kick off shortly after the Emilia Romagna GP concludes, with each step carefully coordinated.

Jorba emphasized the importance of not compromising the experience for the fans. The loading of a truck takes approximately an hour, followed by a six-hour journey to Malpensa Airport in Milan. Local authorities have been collaborating closely to ensure a smooth flow of operations, with containers being inspected before they are loaded onto the plane.

One significant change this year is the customization of transport containers to fit the specific aircraft being used. This adjustment has shortened the preparation time to about six hours, making the entire process more efficient and predictable. Furthermore, with Moto2 and Moto3 equipment requiring only one plane, the logistics have been streamlined.

If all goes according to plan, the cargo is set to arrive in Lombok by Tuesday morning, with the final shipment reaching by mid-afternoon the following day. From there, the equipment will be transported by road to the Mandalika circuit, ready for the upcoming race.

The meticulous planning and coordination involved in transporting MotoGP equipment from Misano to Mandalika highlight the dedication and precision required to meet strict deadlines in the world of motorsports. As fans eagerly anticipate the Indonesia event, the behind-the-scenes efforts of the organizers ensure that everything runs smoothly, despite the challenges posed by the back-to-back race weekends.
