Swimming Worlds: Mélanie Henique takes silver in the 50m butterfly

Mélanie Henique won, at the age of 31, a third world medal in the 50m butterfly. After bronze in Shanghai (China) in 2011, and silver in Budapest (Hungary) in 2022, the French swimmer again finished second in the event, Saturday February 17, during the world championships in Doha. With a time of 25 s 44, she was beaten by the Swedish Sarah Sjöström (24 s 63). The Egyptian Farida Osman completes the podium (25.67).

Many French swimmers have decided to skip these Worlds, unusually placed in February. Mélanie Henique wanted to travel to Qatar to repeat the races at an international level five months before the Olympic Games. It brings France its first medal in the competition, over a distance which, however, does not appear on the Olympic program.
