LIV Golf pro Graeme McDowell and Ian Poulter have decided to withdraw from this week’s Asian Tour event at Fox Hills in England. McDowell’s reason for pulling out has not been disclosed at this time. Poulter, on the other hand, cited an ankle injury as the reason for his withdrawal. Despite being disappointed about missing out on competing, Poulter mentioned that he plans to attend the event to watch some golf on Saturday.
With the absence of McDowell and Poulter, the number of LIV Golf players participating in the tournament has decreased to 16. Some notable players who are still in the field include Thomas Pieters, Harold Varner III, Peter Uihlein, Anirban Lahiri, and Peter Uhlein. The event in England is the fourth out of the 10 elevated events on the 2024 Asian Tour schedule, with a prize purse of $2,000,000. The current leader of the order of merit is John Catlin, who will secure a spot in the 2025 LIV Golf League. Players who finish from second to eighth in the standings will earn automatic entry into LIV Golf’s qualifying school at the end of the season, with LIV Golf Promotions offering three additional spots.
The list of LIV Golf players who are still competing at Fox Hills includes Richard Bland, John Catlin, Ben Campbell, Eugenio Chacarra, Branden Grace, Sam Horsfield, Jason Kokrak, Anirban Lahiri, Wade Ormsby, Thomas Pieters, Ian Poulter, Kalle Samooja, Caleb Surratt, Peter Uihlein, Harold Varner III, Kieran Vincent, and Scott Vincent.
