Maïté, whose real name is Marie-Thérèse Ordonez, is one of the icons of the small screen. Indeed, thanks to his lilting accent and his outspokenness, his show La Cuisine des Mousquetaires enjoyed great success when it was broadcast in the 1980s and 1990s.
As she celebrates her 86th birthday this June 2, 2024, the cook has moved away from the world of television. His last appearance in the media dates back to 2007 in the documentary A table avec les Politiques, reports Orange Tendances.
On April 25, 2022 on France 2, her granddaughter Camille Ordonez was invited onto the set of the show Ça commence aujourd’hui. The opportunity to give news of her grandmother in front of the host Faustine Bollaert. “She is doing very well,” she confided, “she is enjoying her retirement with her family, still in her village of Rion-des-Landes. This media side has passed, so in 2010, she chose to retire.” Reassuring news for Maïté’s fans.
Camille Ordonez was born in 2001, so she did not experience the period during which Maïté had such great success. It was later that she discovered her grandmother’s broadcasts. “She started making me watch her shows when I was seven or eight years old, with my sister. When she looked after us in the evening, when we were sleeping at her house, she would play La Cuisine des Mousquetaires on tape, to put us to sleep .”
For the young girl, Marie-Thérèse Ordonez was “an exceptional grandmother”. She never really likened her to a celebrity, says Femme Actuelle in particular. “There was never this Maïté side, but rather grandma Maïté.”
Cooking is a passion that is visibly transmitted through blood since Camille Ordonez also wants to make it her career. In 2018, she also participated in the show Objectif Top Chef, presented by Philippe Etchebest.
