Two people were killed by gunfire early Monday October 16 in Brussels, and the suspect is on the run, the prosecutor’s office in the Belgian capital reported to Agence France-Presse (AFP). According to the newspaper La Derniere Heure, the victims are of Swedish nationality and it is likely that they are supporters of the Swedish football team, opposed this evening to Belgium in the qualifiers for the European Championship. Europe 2024.
According to a video posted on the website of the Flemish newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, the shooter in a fluorescent orange jacket who was riding a scooter fled after using an automatic rifle. A spokesperson for the prosecution simply clarified that an investigation had been opened, without being able to comment on the motive immediately.
