Lärz (dpa / mv) – Within a few weeks, a bomb has been found in the Rechlin/Lärz region (Mecklenburg Lake District) for the third time. As a spokesman for the Röbel office said, it is a 500-kilogram dud that was discovered on Monday at the Lärz airfield. According to experts from the ammunition recovery service, the bomb must be defused or detonated immediately.
Motorists would therefore have to expect the federal road 198 between Rechlin and Mirow to be blocked in the afternoon. According to previous information, a restricted area of ??two kilometers in diameter is to be formed. Motorists could avoid a district road south of the B198.
Before 1945, the German Air Force had several thousand employees in Rechlin, Lärz and Mirow. The huge area, part of which is still a restricted area today, was bombed several times at the end of the war. During GDR times, Russian fighter pilots took off and landed at the Lärz airfield. The huge site is still used as a commercial airfield. Another defusing is planned for this Thursday in Rechlin.
