Erfurt (dpa/th) – The French documentary “Animal” has been voted the best European children’s film. More than 3,000 young film fans from 42 European countries chose director Cyril Dion’s production with the central theme of climate change as the winning film on Sunday, as the German children’s media foundation “Goldener Spatz” announced in Erfurt.

The young film fans aged 12 to 14 saw the three nominated films for the “Young Audience Award 2022”. In addition to “Animal”, the Swedish feature film “Comedy Queen” by director Sanna Lenken and the German feature film “Traume sind wie wilde Tiger” by Lars Montag were also nominated. The European Film Academy’s “Young Audience Award” was presented for the eleventh time in Erfurt.
