Gelsenkirchen (dpa / lnw) – Two teenagers were in a car chase with the police in Gelsenkirchen early on Sunday morning. According to a message, a police patrol became aware of an oncoming vehicle near the Schalke Arena. The driver did not respond to the stop signals from the police, which is why the patrol took up the pursuit. The driver of the getaway vehicle finally stopped independently after driving through several parts of the city.
A 15-year-old was behind the wheel, his 16-year-old passenger was caught by the officers after a short flight on foot. The two boys’ car had no registration and foreign number plates. There were also fresh signs of an accident on the car. Police suspect the damage occurred before the chase. The two young men were handed over to their parents after their personal details had been determined.
