Leuna (dpa/sa) – A good month after his 80th birthday, the art gallery in the Leuna culture center is dedicating an exhibition to the sculptor, medalist and graphic artist Bernd Göbel. After the vernissage of “Resume” on Saturday, the works of one of the most important representatives of Halle’s sculpture and medal school will be presented until December 16th. Göbel was born in Freiberg. The artist has lived and worked in Halle for more than 60 years.

Until 2008 he worked as a professor for sculpture at the Burg Giebichenstein Art Academy. Göbel has been designing medals of honor for the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in Halle for more than 40 years. The show in Leuna is dedicated to Göbel’s “diverse sculptural and graphic work”, who created life-size sculptures as well as small sculptures in bronze, ceramics or terracotta. According to the gallery, wooden figures and woodcuts are also on display.

The art gallery in the Kulturhaus Leuna has existed since 1998. It offers around 250 square meters of exhibition space. The gallery in the Saalekreis exhibits the works of regional artists, but also shows international contemporary art.
