St. Märgen (dpa / lsw) – A 67-year-old died in a tragic accident on a company site in St. Märgen (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district). According to the police, the man was running down a flight of stairs with a few steps on Friday when he fell for an unknown reason. Heavy steel plates fixed to the wall to cover the excavation pit fell out of their holder and onto the man.
The 67-year-old was trapped under the heavy plates. The alerted rescue workers were able to save and resuscitate the seriously injured and unconscious man. However, he died at the scene of the accident from his serious injuries, it was said. It is not known why the plates tilted. The criminal police are investigating.
