Jena (dpa/th) – Unknowns blew up an ATM at a bank branch in Jena. The perpetrators fled on foot and in a car after the blast early Friday morning, police said. A suspect who fled on foot was arrested just a few minutes later. The 25-year-old is currently being questioned. No information has yet been given on the exact number of ATM blasters.
Officers who were there immediately after the blast also fired shots, a police spokesman said. Nobody was injured in the process. A helicopter was also used to search for the fugitives. Contrary to initial information, the adjoining building was not so severely damaged by the blast that there is a risk of it collapsing. The amount of the loot and the damage to property was initially unknown.
