Köthen (dpa/sa) – The synod of the Evangelical Church of Anhalt wants to deal with climate protection at its autumn conference. At the conference on November 18th and 19th in Köthen Castle, laws and the budget are also on the agenda, as the regional church announced on Friday. In the budget for 2023, income and expenses of 18.3 million euros are planned – 400,000 euros more than this year. The synods are also advising on a law that will regulate the cooperation of the parishes in alliances, as it was said. A public question time for church members is planned for the morning of November 19th.
The state synod is one of the three decision-making bodies of the Evangelical Church in Anhalt, along with the state church council and the church leadership. The synod usually meets twice a year and works in committees in between. According to its own statements, the Anhalt State Church had 27,500 members and 133 parishes as of January 1 of this year.
