Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) – Sports director Oliver Kreuzer from Karlsruher SC has strengthened coach Christian Eichner after five league defeats in a row and given a job guarantee before the last game of the year. “We’re definitely going into preparation with Christian,” the “Badische Latest News” quoted the 56-year-old on Thursday. “Eiche and his coaching staff have been doing a tremendous job for the past three years. Now we won’t question anything because we’ve lost five games in a row.”
After the 2-0 defeat in the southwest derby at 1. FC Kaiserslautern on Tuesday, KSC is only one point ahead of the relegation zone of the 2nd Bundesliga. On Saturday (1 p.m. / Sky) Baden will meet FC St. Pauli. Then comes the long World Cup break.
“I moderate it completely because I see how work is done there,” said Kreuzer about a possible coaching discussion. “And also in the internal relationship between the team and the coach, everything is great.” The Karlsruhe team had “lost a really good starting position,” said the sporting director, commenting on the fact that no more points have been added to the previous 17 points since the beginning of October. “If anything, it might be an earnings crisis,” he said.
