Dresden (dpa/sn) – The Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony supports 56 projects by Saxon artists in Germany and abroad with grants. The foundation announced on Tuesday that EUR 303,500 had been approved for this. 42 work grants were awarded for the coming year in the fields of fine arts (19), literature (9), performing arts and music (8) and film (6). They include a monthly subsidy of 1100 euros and are paid for three to six months. In addition, there are nine scholarships for work stays in Germany and abroad – including at the Greater Columbus Arts Council in Columbus (US state of Ohio) – and in the Leipzig cotton spinning mill.

With a “Max Uhlig Travel Grant” five more artists can work in Japan, Uzbekistan and Italy, among other places. The travel grants were first advertised in honor of the painter Max Uhlig in 2021. They offer the opportunity to determine the place and period of study visits yourself and are endowed with 5000 euros each.
