Erfurt (dpa/th) – The Thuringian state government is considering a kind of discount for younger people on the 49-euro ticket for local public transport. “There are initial considerations to introduce a cheap ticket for young people,” said a spokeswoman for Infrastructure Minister Susanna Karawanskij (left) of the “world”. “The idea is to achieve the discounted price through a subsidy for the “normal”, nationwide ticket,” it said. “So the beneficiaries used the same ticket as everyone else and did not have to accept any restrictions on validity.”

A price of around 28 euros is being examined for these people. That would cost the country an additional 30 million euros. It was initially unclear which groups the offer should be aimed at.

The federal and state governments paved the way for a 49-euro monthly ticket on Wednesday with an agreement on financing issues. A digital, nationwide valid Deutschlandticket is planned. It is considered to be the permanent successor to the 9-euro ticket that was valid in summer.
