Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – IG Metall in the southwest has increased the pressure on employers again in the current wave of warning strikes. According to union information, 20,000 employees from around 50 companies in the country took part in warning strikes, rallies or early closing actions by Friday afternoon. According to IG Metall, the total number of participants has risen to 37,500 since the end of the peace obligation last weekend. In the coming days, too, employees from a number of companies are being asked to temporarily stop working. The next round of negotiations is scheduled for Tuesday.

In the nationwide collective bargaining conflict, IG Metall is demanding eight percent more money for a term of twelve months. Around one million people are employed in the industry in Baden-Württemberg. The employers’ association Südwestmetall had – like the associations in other collective bargaining areas – offered a one-time payment of 3000 euros and an unspecified increase in the salary scales for a period of 30 months.
