Offenbach (dpa/lhe) – In a long-term comparison, October in Hesse was mild and sunny, but also rainy. Almost 65 liters of rain fell per square meter, the German Weather Service in Offenbach announced on Monday. That is 6 liters more than in the internationally valid reference period from 1961 to 1990. With an average temperature of 12.2 degrees, it was also 3.3 degrees warmer. The sun shone for a good 125 hours, a quarter more often than in the comparable period.

With these values, however, Hessen is one of the rather cool regions in a national comparison, the average temperature throughout Germany is 12.5 degrees. In addition, Hesse was the state with the least sunshine in October 2022.
