Mannheim (dpa/lsw) – SV Waldhof Mannheim has taken a step out of the crisis in the 3rd football league. Coach Christian Neidhart’s team defeated SG Dynamo Dresden 2-1 (2-0) on Saturday and overtook the Saxons thanks to the victory in the table. As seventh, the Mannheimers still have a clear gap to the promotion places.

In front of 11,311 spectators, the Waldhöfer team impressed in the first 45 minutes and took a deserved 2-0 lead thanks to a goal by Marten Winkler (5th minute) and an own goal by Claudio Kammerknecht (32nd).

After the break, Dresden got stronger and had good chances to score. The relegated team only scored a goal in the 86th minute through Manuel Schäffler, so that the Mannheimers defended their lead with a fight and a good defensive performance.
