Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – SV Wehen Wiesbaden has missed the leap to third place in the 3rd soccer league. Coach Markus Kauczinski’s team lost 3-1 (0-0) to MSV Duisburg on Friday evening and lost at home for the first time this season. A week after the defeat in the top game at TSV 1860 Munich, the SVWW found it very difficult at times against the recently weak guests from the middle of the table.

Captain Moritz Stoppelkamp and twice Aziz Bouhaddouz gave Duisburg the best chances before the break. Benedict Hollerbach had previously made it 1-0 for Wiesbaden. An own goal by midfielder Bjarke Jacobsen after a sharp cross from Stoppelkamp put the Hessians behind in the 55th minute. Substitute Kolja Pusch headed in just a minute later to make it 2-0 for Duisburg. Wehen’s captain Johannes Wurtz reduced the deficit to 1:2 (63′) before Stoppelkamp made the decision with a shot worth seeing to make it 3:1 (89′).
